Bell Ringer: Bullets and numbers will become a must. It is almost impossible to write a professional resume without the use of bullets and numbers. Employers are going to start insisting on this for an easy point read. (2 x in cursive)

We are going to write introductions for our "essays"

I created a formula to help with writing an introduction. This will help get you started; this is all one paragraph composed of structured sentences.

 1. One brief sentence as an attention getter. What makes me want to read your paper?

 2. Thesis Statement

 3. One sentence about the first item in your thesis statement

 4. One sentence about the second item in your thesis statement

 5. One sentence about the third item in your thesis statement

  6. One sentence about the topic in general (This is what many people call the topic sentence)

Let's write an introduction on this topic (you already have an outline for this) : Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. Your state legislature is considering raising the minimum driving age from 16 to 18. Do you think the minimum driving age should be raised? Take a position on this issue. Support your response with reasons and specific examples.
