We are going to write a paragraph - it may look familiar to you, it may not: This is my formula for writing an introduction for an essay.

 

 I created a formula to help with writing an introduction. This will help get you started; this is all one paragraph composed of structured sentences.

 

 1. One brief sentence as an attention getter. What makes me want to read your paper?

 2. Thesis Statement: Write a sentence with your favorite three hobbies in it. 

 3. One sentence about the first item in your thesis statement

 4. One sentence about the second item in your thesis statement

 5. One sentence about the third item in your thesis statement

 6. One sentence about the topic in general (This is what many people call the topic sentence)
