THS Swim Team Victorious Over PikeView Panthers and Graham G-Men

The Tazewell High School Swim Team traveled to Bluefield State College to take on the PikeView Panthers and the Graham G-Men in a scrimmage meet on Tuesday, November 29. Sophomore standout, Lakin Odum, placed first in both the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke. Freshman, Daniel Mullins, placed first in 100 yard butterfly and second in the 50 yard freestyle. Freshman, Wesley Brown, rounded out the boys’ events, placing second in the 100 yard backstroke and third in the 50 yard freestyle.

Sophie Smith, THS Senior and team captain, placed first in the girls’ 100 yard butterfly and third in the 50 yard freestyle. Junior, Leanne Thomas, placed second in both the 100 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle events. Freshman, Miranda Brewster, placed second in both the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke. Freshman, Claira Whitt, placed third in both the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke. Senior, Nicole Muncy, placed third in the 100 yard backstroke and ninth in the 50 yard freestyle. Sophomore, Dayna Lafferty, placed fifth in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle events.

The girls relay team of Smith, Thomas, Brewster and Whitt, placed first in the girls’ 200 yard medley relay and the girls’ 200 yard freestyle relay.

The team will participate in the Southwest Virginia High School Invitational at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on December 3.
